Mercia Partnership has an outstanding reputation in delivering Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy qualifications in the work place. Our highly trained and qualified tutors have used innovative teaching and delivery methods to achieve success rates currently running at over 80%.

Our work with the N.H.S. Aintree Hospital Trust for example has been particularly profitable. We run online literacy and numeracy development supported by high quality resources and expert tutor guidance to help learners to achieve excellent results at literacy and numeracy levels one and two. These qualifications are nationally recognised by employers and colleges and have attracted learners from a range of different occupations in the health sector: from nurses to laboratory technicians; administrators to ancillary staff and because the learners were all working in the health sector, we were able to embed their development in a health context. The programes have been so successful that we have been invited by N.H.S. to pilot a SFL scheme across the North West.

We do not just support the large employers though; in fact, one of our best successes was with a care home called Mariner’s Court, based in Lancashire, where seventeen learners achieved thirty five test passes, that’s one literacy and one numearcy award each-and one learner achieved two literacy awards at level 1 and 2! We delivered this training on-site and adapted our delivery model to take account of the organisation’s own requirements such as cover, leave etc.

We recognise that for workforce development to be a success we need very much to work in partnership with employers. To that end, we seek to establish a working module which acknowledges their priorities while at the same time, we would provide comprehensive support to the learners themselves.
