Adult Literacy and Numeracy qualifications.
What is Skills for Life?
Skills for Life qualifications are aimed at adults who are looking to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and gain GCSE equivalent qualifications. The qualifications are designed to develop key areas designed to develop key areas e.g. written and spoken communication skills, together with mathematical skills which underpin all workplace activity. For example:
Adult Literacy Level 1 and 2:
- Report writing
- Minute taking
- Written and spoken communication
Adult Numeracy Level 1 and 2:
- Budgeting
- Target setting
- Statistical information
Skills for Life qualifications are designed to be delivered in the workplace. Individuals will undertake an initial assessment and diagnostic assessment to identify the areas for development and the appropriate level.
Mercia tutors will provide all resources, including laptops and 3G Internet connectivity for online testing.
Qualification
Nationally recognised qualifications which are GCSE equivalent
- Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE A-C
- Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE D-G
Qualification are awarded by EDI, a leading examination body governed by QCA.
*All NVQ provision now requires the completion of a Level 1/2 Literacy qualification.
