About Us

Our Mission:

“We will work with you to develop your skills to your full potential, surprising you with the ways we can do this, and how well we do it”

Mercia Partnership was established in 1998 to provide high quality training for people both working and not working in the North West of England. Management Training was quickly followed by Trainer Training and IT supported by European Funding.

By 2002 we had 12 staff and three learning centres all of which were providing Learndirect services and we were awarded Jobcentre Plus provider of the year in Knowsley. In 2003 UK Online awarded us best North West Centre. Our team had now grown to 30 people with our training in Literacy, Numeracy and Customer Service becoming very popular across the region.

Ofsted considered Mercia to be "Outstanding" in 2004 and this led to us working with offenders at HMP Liverpool and HMP Kennet. This rapid period of growth from 2005 to 2009 changed the nature of the organisation making us one of the largest training companies in the North West.

Achieving Beacon Status in 2006 and two members of our management team gaining National Training Awards in 2007 were highlights of this period. As a Train to Gain and Apprenticeship provider we expanded into on-site delivery for private and public sector organisations both large and small. High success rates continued to be our goal.

In 2009 we withdrew from prison work and the staff involved transferred to the new provider. We were then able to concentrate on training in companies across the North West and training for unemployed people in Liverpool. An Ofsted visit in 2010 recognised this change in focus as very positive and recorded that Mercia had made reasonable progress in all areas measured by the monitoring team.

In the Autumn of 2010 Mercia was presented with the TUC Unionlearn Quality Award which recognises both the quality of our training and out willingness to work in partnership. In 2011 our learner and employer evaluations continue to be incredibly positive as we maintain high success rates.
